2024 Exclusive Sneak Peek: Ben Sinnott, TE Kansas State
Welcome to the Exclusive Sneak Peek: Ben Sinnott, a tight end from Waterloo, Iowa who attended Columbus High School. Sinnott was not recruited and eventually walked on to Kansas State University after decommitting to South Dakota.
As an in-line TE, an H-back, and a fullback, Sinnott eventually worked his way onto the Wildcats’ field. After redshirting in 2020 and barely seeing action in 2021, Sinnott put together back-to-back productive campaigns. His sophomore and junior seasons produced a total of 79 receptions for 1123 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns, becoming a First-team All-Big 12 member in both years.
Sinnott possesses the requisite size and blocking chops to contribute to an NFL team immediately. And, as he showed at the Senior Bowl, he can also be a plus contributor in the receiving game at the next level.

Scouting Reports
Strengths
- An effective route runner who has the knack and tools for creating separation.
- A screen game weapon with nice acceleration and good top-line speed.
- Can line up all over the field, including in the slot and out wide.
- Very good hands with nice body control in space.
- Good blocker with a good motor.
Weaknesses
- Unlikely to dominate as an inline blocker, though the technique is very good.
- The production profile isn’t anything special.
- Did not face much top-tier talent in the Big 12.
Pre-Draft Analysis
Expected Draft Capital: Late Round 3/Early Round 4
Ideal Landing Spot: Los Angeles Chargers
Assuming the Chargers do not take Brock Bowers as the 5th overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft, Sinnott in the early 4th is a nice consolation. Sinnott has the skills to work as the replacement for Gerald Everett right away, even with Donald Parham and Stone Smartt still under contract.
For the Chargers, we know Justin Herbert is desperately in need of weapons with the likely departure of Mike Williams and the increased age of volume king Keenan Allen. Sinnott can be lined up all over the field by Greg Roman, who has already stated that refining the play-action passing game is a priority for him and the offense. This is where Sinnott can thrive, especially with the expected exit of Austin Ekeler. As a short area check-down option and a middle-of-the-field, volume threat, he can take pressure off of Allen while also becoming the immediate number 2 option in the Chargers offense.
For Sinnott, the best case here is a place where he can be utilized right away. We’re all looking at what Sam LaPorta was able to accomplish as the number one fantasy TE in his rookie season in 2023 and hoping to find the next diamond in the rough. Sinnott in Los Angeles could well be that next diamond.
